CFB vs. CBB in Conf. Realignment

I’m Chuck Wilson with an ESPN Radio Extra Point,
In the battle of football vs. basketball, who will win? That’s the question as the Atlantic Coast Conference explores expanding from nine to 12-teams.
Adding the University of Miami, Syracuse and Boston College would enhance the ACC as a football conference. It would help in recruiting and a conference championship game
would bring millions of dollars to the table. On the flip side are the basketball interests. However you split the 12-teams, divisional play means you can’t keep the traditional
home-and-home games across the board and some rivalries will be hurt. Plus it means dividing conference tournament tickets and revenues by 12 instead of nine. But despite drawbacks,
look for expansion to happen. This is about power and positioning. No one wants to play musical chairs and find themselves without a seat at the table. Elevating the conference as a football power
would give the ACC enormous leverage in negotiating its TV contracts. Football rules the day.
Can the long talked about “Super Conference” of elite football/basketball schools be far behind?
